Thus, one of the UK’s leading UK digital providers, has been selected to create a broadband network connecting Scotland’s 32 education authorities and three national agencies, Learning and Teaching Scotland, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and the Scottish Educational Establishment Management Information System (SEEMIS). Peter Peacock, Education Minister, described this “national backbone” as a step change in the use of technology.
