Brunel lures poor students

Brunel university plans to attract inner-city teenagers on to degree courses by building a senior school for pupils from poor backgrounds on its own campus. It wants to offer places to 300 14 to 19-year-olds who are judged to be academically talented but might not otherwise consider higher education. Pupils would get access to university lectures and have individually tailored lessons. The scheme could get government backing as one of the new city academies.
