Sweets have been banned at a Middlesbrough primary school, which has also introduced supervised brushing sessions. The measures were brought in because its pupils were found to be four times more likely than average to have decayed or filled teeth. Helen Owen, deputy head, said: “The project fits in with the Government’s national healthy eating agenda. There’s been no chocolate smuggling!”
