Tempted? Apparently lifelong learning is fertile ground for those seeking stimulation of a type which is more than simply intellectual.

The Learning and Skills Council is using the lure of sex to increase participation in part-time study. An LSC survey says that its courses are second only to the pub as a place to meet a new partner.

“People in search of romance or friendship should enrol on part-time study courses,” said a LSC spokeswoman. “Courses are regarded as social events as well as a chance to learn new skills.”

Television agony aunt Denise Robertson agrees. “It’s a great way to meet like-minded people.”

Philately, it seems, will get you everywhere.
