The vocational exam body BTEC has begun using the Internet and other electronic links to speed up communications with colleges. The decision is in response to demands from managers and teachers for more time to organise timetables and review staffing requirements.
New specifications for general national vocational qualifications come into force this September. They cover the five subjects first introduced in 1992 in the initial phase of GNVQs - art and design, business, health and social care, leisure and tourism, and manufacturing.
They are being made available from this month on paper, disc, the Internet and via electronic data interchange (EDI).
