A reading initiative at a Powys primary has been highlighted as an example of best practice nationally. Presteigne primary’s Reading Buddies scheme has been praised in a report published by Museums, Archives and Libraries Wales. Year 6 pupils at the school are paired with younger pupils during special lunchtime reading sessions. The intention is for older pupils to provide encouragement and support for their partners, while also developing their own personal and social skills.
