Arthur Bell Nicholls, a curate, proposed twice before Charlotte finally married him at Haworth Church on June 29, 1854. She died less than a year later. This exhibition at the Bront Parsonage Museum, Haworth, West Yorkshire marks the 150th anniversary of their brief, but happy marriage. A replica of her wedding dress, letters and artefacts telling the story of their relationship are on display, together with her honeymoon dress and wedding gloves and Ellen Nussey’s bridesmaid’s dress. IMAGE AND IDENTITY

To inspire young people to create artwork in all media, the Victoria and Albert Museum has been working with five regional museums. This exhibition will display examples of work produced at all the museums in response to museum collections. It will be launched at a young people’s conference at the Vamp;A on March 10, which will involve up to 250 young participants in the project. Vamp;A, South Kensington, London SW7.

ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL

The best of contemporary Italian cinema, and a retrospective of films by special guest Ermanno Olmi will be screened at Riverside Studios Cinema, Crisp Road, Hammersmith, London W6. The event is organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Edinburgh.

ASTRONOMY SUMMER SCHOOL

The European Association for Astronomy Education is holding its summer school at De Glind, near Utrecht in Holland. Aimed at non-specialist secondary teachers, the programme includes lectures, working groups, workshops and observational sessions, all of which are in English. The closing date for registration is April 30. Residential fee: about E754.

LONDON WASTE

A 12-week secondary teaching programme about London’s waste and how it can be recycled has been developed by London Remade, and is available free online. It links to the citizenship curriculum, as well as to geography, ICT, maths, English, history, design and technology. The site can also be used for stand-alone lessons. www.capitalwastelearning.com
