Bront Museum

Until September 5

Four love letters Charlotte Bront wrote to married Belgian teacher Constantin Heger are now among the exhibits at the Bront Parsonage Museum, Haworth, West Yorkshire, on loan from the British Library. Heger ripped up all but one letter, but the fragments of the others have been reassembled.

They caused a sensation when published by The Times in 1913. The letters have returned to the parsonage for the first time since Charlotte posted them 160 years ago.
