Belleville Rendez-vous, Raining Cats and Frogs, The Night of the Hunter and Cyrano de Bergerac are examples of the French, British and European films, classics and animated features due to be screened at Cine Lumiere, Institut Francais, London SW7. Six films are screened a week with those on Wednesday and Saturday open to the public and the rest to school parties. The original version of all films is shown with English subtitles where appropriate. Prices: pound;2 per person in a school group; teachers free.

Singing courses

March 2 and March 11

Voice coaching specialist the Vocal Athlete is holding an open evening in Sutton, Surrey, on March 2, 7pm, to launch its spring courses for the contemporary singer of pop, rock, r’n‘b, jazz, blues, acoustic soul and more. Talented singers and wannabe pop stars will be able to meet expert coaches and find out how to hit the right notes. An introductory workshop takes place on March 11, 10am-5pm. Price range: pound;45 (one day) to pound;480 (five days).

Wildlife photographer

Closes March 31 Children aged 11 to 17 are eligible to enter the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition organised by London’s National History Museum and BBC Wildlife magazine. The winner receives pound;500, a day out with a top wildlife photographer and publication of their photograph in the magazine. Winning images are displayed in the NHM and then go on a nationwide tour.
