Plant conservation April 5-6

Growing heritage: garden plants and conservation is a conference to agree on a plan for the conservation of garden plants. Organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens at the RHS Conference Centre, Westminster, London SW1.

Speakers include Simon Thornton Wood, assistant director RHS science and learning, and Gail Bromley, education development manager and international consultant for biodiversity education at Kew.

Alice exhibition Now open

Alice through the Looking Glass is an exhibition at Glasgow Science Centre which is free with entry to the Science Mall. Through hands-on exhibits, visitors can explore the fascinating tricks that the brain can play. Other events include ScottishPower Planetarium shows, Our Place in Space and Junior Sky Tonight, and IMAX films Walking on the Moon, CyberWorld and Alien Adventure.

K’Nex Challenge Registration closes April 30

Young Engineers and Hasbro invite primary classes to design and make K’Nex models. Regional finals will be held in June and July, and the national final in September, as part of the annual celebration of engineering. The winning team will receive pound;1,000 for their school and runners-up will get Pounds 500. Free K’Nex kits will be awarded to all schools and teams participating in the final.
