NATIONAL ADOPT A SCHOOL DAY

To mark the tenth anniversary of the Academy of Culinary Arts’ Adopt a School programme, chefs will be going into about 90 schools, Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital School and Barnardo’s High Close School to introduce children to real food and practical cooking and raise their awareness of the importance of good hygiene and nutrition.

SHAKESPEARE’S RIVALS: PLOTTING AND PLAYING AT THE ROSE

Some of the most important surviving documents from Elizabethan and Jacobean theatres are on show at Shakespeare’s Globe, Bankside, London SE1.

They reveal the fierce rivalry between playwrights and the many difficulties involved in getting a play from page to stage. The exhibition has been mounted in partnership with Dulwich College. Admission (pound;8 adults; pound;5.50 children) includes a visit to the site of the original Rose Theatre.

NEW RADA CERTIFICATES

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is to introduce a range of certificates in the interpretation and delivery of Shakespeare aimed at students of 16 and up. Candidates can apply to take the examinations (practical sessions held at regional centres) individually or in groups, privately or via their drama teacher or theatre group director. Entrants start at bronze level and can progress to silver and gold. Single entrants will learn and perform monologues and poems; groups will prepare a scene from one of Shakespeare’s plays.
