Lesley Owen, a technology teacher from Birkenhead, Merseyside is parting with her family’s 100-year-old John Malcolm harmonium.
It’s been in the family for nearly 30 years but she needs to make space in a newly refurbished sitting room. The mahogany instrument is in good working order with 14 stops, offering a wide range of possibilities for making interesting sounds, and has more than five octaves - including clarinet, flute and piano. It features a bass and treble coupler and, at 4ft wide by 2ft deep and 4ft 6in high, the harmonium is slightly smaller than an average piano.
