From California comes the cautionary tale of a primary head who stuck too rigidly to the rules.
In a bid to stop pupils attending rallies calling for changes to immigration law, Angie Marquez, of Worthington elementary school in Inglewood, imposed a “lockdown” (American for lock-up).
Unfortunately, she misread the district handbook and ordered the kind intended for nuclear attacks, forcing pupils to go to the toilet in buckets in classrooms.
“An honest mistake,” said the school board. “Unsanitary, unnecessary and unacceptable,” said a parent. Good way to save water, though.
