Call to compare notes on fate of itinerant learners

I have been researching the school experiences of mobile students for some time. In particular, I have focused on the children of itinerant farm workers.

These children travel thousands of kilometres with their parents, who harvest crops in northern and southern areas of Australia. The children change schools approximately every six months; they also change education systems. It concerns me that they tend not to do well at school, and I am trying to find ways to change that situation.

In the past couple of years, I have become interested in the way that school pedagogy might cater for mobile students. However, this has not been a particular focus in Australian education and that is why I would like to communicate with teachers in Scotland, because I know that teachers work with Traveller children and probably with other mobile students as well.

If any Scottish teachers are interested in participating in this research, I would be delighted to hear from them - interviews would take no longer than 30 minutes.
