They would join the burgeoning specialist schools sector, expected to number nearly 1,000 schools by 206, and already covering technology, languages and sports. Meanwhile, a pound;3m publicity campaign called Don't Quit Now, aims to persuade the 170,000 16 to 18-year-olds who drop out of education or training to stay in some form of learning.
