DENMARK: Politicians are calling for an investigation into the funding of folk high schools following reports of irregularities at two connected with the transcendental meditation (TM) movement.
About 700 people attend courses in “developing consciousness” run by the high schools at Borrehus, at Kolding in southern Jutland, and Rovig, north-west Zealand. The two schools rent their premises from Rovig Bad ApS, which is run by Denmark’s TM movement. Last year, Rovig got almost Pounds 225,300 in state subsidies, and critics are concerned that several million Danish kroner a year may end up in the coffers of the movement.
