A charity has urged parents to stop children getting hooked on alcohol after research revealed 18 per cent of adults drink at least double the daily recommended level in one or more weekly sessions.

The Centre for Public Health report shows the biggest binge drinkers live in the North-east and North-west. The charity Life Education has called for greater parental control to stop children following a path towards alcohol abuse.
