The Government is to make pound;100,000 available next year for geography teachers’ professional development, junior minister Stephen Twigg told the Geographical Association’s annual conference in Canterbury this week. The GA and the Royal Geographical Society have been asked to suggest types of training which could win funding. A Department for Education and Skills spokesman said projects that could win support included ones using information and communications technology and schemes to boost the confidence of primary teachers in the subject.
