Two children, a pet fish, a wet day, an absent mother and an anarchic feline - The Cat in the Hat has delighted generations of children. Now Dr Seuss’s rhyming tale has been turned into an 80-minute feature film (PG), starring Mike Myers. An accompanying CD-Rom is being sent to more than 20,000 primary schools. It contains interactive materials for literacy, numeracy and ICT sessions. Themes from the story and film are met in a new medium, so pupils at key stages 1 and 2 can compare a classic printed text with its technological transfigurations. The Cat in the Hat CD-Rom is distributed by Film Education, 21-22 Poland Street, London W1F 8QQ. Visit the website for other free resources: www.filmeducation.org
