In your article “High-achieving Catholics go downhill with A-level results” (TES, March 6), there is no mention of the 16 Catholic sixth-form colleges and the excellent results which they achieve at A-level. In this college, for example, A-level results have consistently improved since league tables were introduced, and this year 15 of our students have been offered Oxbridge places.

It is interesting to note that we are heavily over-subscribed for entry in 1998, with 830 applications for 550 places, and that many of those potential students are attracted by the academic reputation of the college.
