A serious message about recycling comes wrapped in entertaining form on the CD-Rom Glass Works. Animated bottles, jars and other vitreous humanoids introduce children at key stages 1 and 2 to games and activities that help them acquire basic computer skills and explore aspects of sustainable development. By meeting glassware in a number of cyber-envionments, they exercise their visual memory, reinforce number facts and think about sequencing. Teachers’ notes and planning sheets can be accessed and printed, while a related website offers quizzes and other recycling recreation.

The CD-Rom is produced by British Glass and can be ordered by schools free from www.recyclingglass.co.uk
