Celebrate your enemies

How about celebrating all the things that you do not like? Make a list of things that you do not like to look at, touch, taste or listen to. Try to find something good in each idea. Look at how I have tried to find something good in each thing that I do not like. Use the same sort of structure for your poem.

I hate looking at custard

But I love its yellow colour.

I hate touching stinging nettles

But I love the way they are barbed

Sharp as an injection.

I hate tasting cold porridge

But I love the way it clogs

the sink.

I hate hearing the scream of the

dentist’s drill

But I love the way it roots out

decay.
