St John’s Primary in East Renfrewshire was celebrating an outstanding report from HMIE this week. The 218-pupil school received two “excellents” for learners’ experiences and improvement through self-evaluation, and three “very goods” for the curriculum, improvements in performance and meeting learning needs. Head Catherine Dillon-Ruddy was described by inspectors as providing inspirational, visionary and outstanding leadership and having transformed the ethos of the school since taking over in 2007. The school was also praised for examples of inspirational teaching; staff teamwork and partnerships with parents, the church and community; and pupils’ behaviour and confidence as learners.
