It could be the best present schools have ever had - a feast of Britain’s movie heritage from the bfi’s National Film and Television Archive. Along with a range of articles, biographies and stills, there are more than 100 hours of streaming moving image material on the new Screenonline website - from newsreels to movies, including Alfred Hitchcock. And this taster of 300 films and TV programmes is just the beginning. Screenonline is a work in progress - there are 1,000 pages so far - and will be developed.
It’s all free, thanks to funding from the New Opportunities Fund. Schools, colleges and libraries can register at www.screenonline.org.ukregister.
