Census nonsense

Schools recently had to send in data for the spring census. Teaching assistants were asked to say whether they had a diploma in childcare or not. I have both a foundation degree in learning support and a first-class BA(Ed), but was recorded, incorrectly, as having a diploma as there were no further categories. Education does not seem to value education. It may be offering training, and encouraging staff to become higher level teaching assistants, but in reality the Government appears uninterested in how qualified support staff are.

Beverley Kennedy, Teaching assistant, address supplied.
