Centre to boost skills

Thirteen teachers from across the country will attend the first course at the National Science Learning Centre in York on November 1.

As part of the three-day “Enriching the Teaching of Science” course, they will work alongside researcher scientists, and learn how to inspiring pupils through field trips, after-school clubs and experiments.

The centre will be offer more than 3,000 training days for teachers over the next year.

On three “discovery days” teachers can also hear talks from leading scientists including Steve Jones, professor of genetics at University College London, who will speak on “Why creationism is wrong and evolution is right.”
