Centre goes into cold storage

Your article (TESS July 5) on the future of outdoor education centres failed to convey East Renfrewshire Council's true position on the future of Ardentinny outdoor education centre.

East Renfrewshire Council wishes all equipment at Ardentinny to be kept intact and stored securely at the centre to allow the council time to investigate fully further options for reopening the facility in dur course.

The council fully supports the decision of Argyll and Bute Council that nothing will be moved from Ardentinny until the Property Commission takes the decision on the future of the centre and its equipment. East Renfrewshire Council is actively investigating fresh approaches to retaining the excellent facilities at Ardentinny.

That is why it is vital that nothing be moved from the centre until this council had had adequate time to assess all the options which, if viable, would allow the benefits of the centre to be enjoyed not just by East Renfrewshire pupils, but by a much wider client base.
