A chance to grow fruit and vegetables and learn animal husbandry is on offer to pupils at Wales’s first school to offer around-the-clock care to autistic children. Ty Orbis, in Bronllys, near Brecon, was officially opened last week.

The school caters for young people aged 11 to 18, promoting a home environment and 52-week residential provision.

The pound;2 million development includes residential facilities for eight pupils and day facilities for four. It also has a gym, physical activity area and a music room.

Pupils can stay in touch with their parents on special webcams provided by the school.
