SARAH Cassidy writes that Tony Blair’s proposed “US-style” graduation for school-leavers (TES, September 22) would be both “embarrassing” and “pointless”.
But she says the graduation certificates would be useful as they could list qualifications other than academic ones, such as artistic and sporting merits and any work experience.
The introduction of certificates would be futil, because their function is identical to that of the existing Record of Achievement.
The reason for the failure of RoAs is that not enough emphasis is placed on them both in school and the workplace.
To boost recognition of certificates, we would need a ceremony similar to the US graduation.
