An international charity, which runs three schools in India, is to sponsor a new city academy in Bradford.

London-based charity Toc H, founded during the First World War to bring comfort to soldiers, will provide pound;1 million sponsorship for the academy which replaces Bradford Cathedral community college, a previously failing school.

It will work with the Anglican diocese of Bradford to plan changes. The charity runs three schools in India, including a 1,800-pupil academy for poor children.
