An international storytelling project highlighting how education can change lives needs financial support to get off the ground.

The Steve Sinnott Foundation educational charity, hopes to make three short animated films to promote the United Nations’ goal to secure primary education for all children around the world.

These one minute films, which will tell personal stories of how lives have changed through accessing education, will be shown in schools, at conferences and on their to aid an understanding of the work that the charity does to help provide access to learning worldwide.  

So far the foundation has raised almost £8,000 through crowd funding - but it needs £1,000 more to make the project come to life.

If it reaches the target by tomorrow, the charity will also create learning resources for schools, linked to the films, with the money raised.

Ann Beatty, chief executive of the Steve Sinnott Foundation, said: “The films will help raise awareness of the benefits of accessing a quality education. It will help us to tell positive stories where life has changed because of education.

“But also we hope to reach a wider audience, like children, through the choice of animated films. The films would be useful in schools.

The foundation was set up in the name of the former NUT union general secretary who died in office 2008. Away from the headlines of his work at the teaching union, Mr Sinnott worked passionately to promote the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (now the Sustainable Development Goals) for education, helping to secure access to learning for millions of children around the world.
