Leading the world by 2025?

CanuckGrrl: It’s going to take 12 years to get there?

Dominie: Well, I had a look ... “Scenarios do not predict the future. Rather, they provide snapshots of possible futures based on a number of key drivers of change.” And lots of similar mince. It should be in a shiny green folder.

CanuckGrrl: Well, that’s the thing - I thought the shiny green folders were the answer to all our problems. Seems not. Curriculum for Excellence is clearly not up to snuff.

davieee: I only read it as it was reported. However, to me it gave a viewpoint and linked it to social justice etc and compared that scenario to one of gated communities and social unrest. I’m all for social justice but this was essentially fear mongering. If these academics want to instil fear, then they should just tell the truth about CfE.

airy: I saw this on telly and wondered why we can’t let the current set of overhauls to learning and teaching (I include McCormac - what’s going on with that?) settle before embarking on another set. None of those scenarios is focused on just teaching kids and having the resources to do it properly.

gnulinux: I am wondering why Scotland’s Futures Forum is concentrating on the Scottish education system? A better use of their time would be to look at the Scottish legal system, which wasn’t fit for the 20th century, let alone the 21st.
