This excellent book, designed for teachers of GCSE and ASA level, will bring relevance and topicality to lessons.

For example, it shows how the study of shapes of molecules can be used in the preparation of artificial sweeteners or, by using computer modelling, how drugs can be designed or modified. It even delves into the way Viagra works.

The topics cover wide range of material that transcends the normal organicinorganicphysical classifications. Each chapter has a helpful, short introduction and a useful furtherreading section, although the index is rather limited. This book could also be a good reference for students, particularly in the lead up to the A2 exams or for high-flyers who need some challenging chemistry.
