No meat, but plenty of veg

National Vegetarian Week (www.nationalvegetarianweek.org) runs from 21 to 27 May and it’s a good excuse to teach pupils about vegetarian lifestyles. Find out how much they already know, show them what vegetarians eat to stay healthy and give them ideas on how to cook the veggie way.

What to do?

Ask pupils to consider why people may choose to become vegetarian. Get them to write a letter encouraging the school canteen to serve more vegetarian meals. Try a TrueTube script and video to explore vegetarianism, veganism and pescatarianism from a meat-eater’s perspective. Give pupils a creative kitchen challenge with VIRGINIALAPTHORNE’s vegetarian mini-project.
