A Bill to tackle child obesity was launched at the House of Commons this week by Debra Shipley, Labour MP for Stourbridge. If it becomes law, the Private Member’s Bill would ban the marketing of unhealthy food to children, remove some products from school vending machines and introduce new regulations to improve school meals.

The National Union of Teachers, British Heart Foundation, Consumers’

Association and Women’s Institute have all given formal backing to the Bill.
