THE Scottish Out of School Care Network has welcomed the extra support for child care which is part of the working families tax credit, launched by the Chancellor this week. Up to 70 per cent of costs could be covered for some families, the network estimates. Out of school care places for 100,000 Scottish children are planned by 2003. But Irene Audain, the network’s director, remains concerned that students who are parents will be excluded, and that there could be potential abuse as parents claim credits for places they do not take up.
