New measures to modernise services for vulnerable children and overhaul the children’s hearings system will be introduced into parliament later in the year, Margaret Curran, the Minister for Parliament, confirmed last week.
But ministers have refused a request from the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration for an extra pound;20 million in the next three years for more staff. The system was said to be near collapse with a record 54,000 referrals last year, up 10 per cent.
