* Children should not start school until the age of six, Lynne Devine of Forfar said. Pupils were more mature and ready at the later age. Many youngsters were being pushed into school too early. Other European countries started later and Scotland should learn from their experience.

Ms Sturgeon welcomed the proposal and promised to launch an investigation.
