A “Teach Jewish First” scheme should be promoted to university students to increase the number of Jewish studies teachers, says a report by the Jewish Leadership Council. The scheme would be modelled on the Teach First programme, through which high-achieving graduates undertake two-year teaching placements. The council also recommends Jewish primary schools should consider Hebrew as their foreign language.
