In the glow of the stained glass windows of York Minster, Chris Johnson was able to obtain his first taste of what life would be like as a minister of the church. The 16-year-old pupil at Tadcaster grammar in North Yorkshire wants to be a parish priest. He has just completed a two-week work placement shadowing his local vicar and working with the vergers at York Minster, the first ever such placement offered by the Diocese of York. “It is important to get life experiences so you can relate to people,” he says.
