Your article on Christ Church primary school (TES, September 15) gives a very fair picture of the school’s project but omits an important part of the context. The project was part of an initiative involving more than 30 Sefton primary schools, funded by the construction industry as part of the national Construction Curriculum Initiative.

This centre found, and funded, the placement with Amec Building; funded the curriculum project which arose, and worked with David McLean Contractors to organise site visits; and published the award-winning case-study.

The construction industry deserves the highest praise for its support for curriculum development. It has funded a national network of curriculum centres, at a cost of Pounds 3m, during the deepest recession known for generations. This deserves recognition.

Finally, can I suggest that the Christ Church project stands in its own right, without the spurious link to the James Bulger case which your reporter used as a “hook”. Good quality curriculum development deserves better than tabloid treatment.
