I feel the need to respond to the article “Fun with Christ and Krishna” (TES, February 25). Some of the issues in the article were misleading.

First and foremost we are a Christian school, teaching Christian values.

The workshop run by Anthony Padgett at my school represented an opportunity for the children to look at other faiths and become fully aware of “the family of man”. The children were encouraged to select a variety of attributes from many religions and to create what they perceived to be an ideal way of life. This they did through art and literature.

At no time were prayers said to any winning deities. The morning started and ended with Anglican prayers led by the head and deputy head and they finished with evening prayers from a school governor who had been at the workshop all day.

The children gained a great deal from the workshop in understanding that there are key ideas common to all religions. There was the opportunity to handle and view a selection of religious artefacts.

The workshop identified the importance of respect for all and of valuing difference and diversity within society.
