Churches seek religious syllabus

ALL schools should have to follow a national religious education syllabus, according to three leading church organisations. The Church of England, the Methodist Church and the Free Churches backed calls for a national standard in RE and rejected the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority’s suggestion of a non-statutory framework which would leave control in the hands of local authorities.
