The Know Your Rights interactive workshops in Perth and Kinross have, to date, been delivered to four primary school pupil councils and two community-based youth groups.

The aim of the sessions is to help young people learn more about their rights and explore issues that mean something to them in their day-to-day lives.

Some 80 young people have been involved: they say that being listened to is the right that they consider to be most important.

Now the national consultation, A Right Blether, being held by Children’s Commissioner Tam Baillie, has been incorporated into the sessions.

A Right Blether will allow children to shape the work of Mr Baillie over the next four years. It will culminate in a national vote in November, when children will identify the top four issues they think should be incorporated into his work plan.

The second phase of Know Your Rights will see the peer educators leading the workshops in secondary schools and at more community groups.
