Actor Daniel Radcliffe’s latest project, a short film narrating the tales of Holocaust survivors, is available to watch online free.

The film focuses on the accounts of survivors including Ben Helfgott, who was only 10 years old when Hitler invaded his native Poland. Ben went on to become an English weightlifting champion, representing the country at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

The film has been released by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. Holocaust Memorial Day takes place annually on January 27, the date of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau - the largest Nazi concentration camp.

This year’s theme - the Legacy of Hope - will focus on Holocaust survivors who have built their lives, communities and families in the UK. Inevitably, the number is diminishing and, as they become more frail, their thoughts are turning to the preservation of their memories.

Daniel Radcliffe said: “The surest shield we have against future atrocities is our knowledge and our emotional understanding of what has happened in the past.”
