The TES would like to clarify it was not David Lyscom of the Independent Schools Council who said #163;7 million of the DCSF budget could be saved by axeing backroom staff and consultants (”#163;61k of promotional gimmicks for child database make mugs of taxpayers”, April 30). This figure comes from a previous newspaper interview with Ed Balls.
In an article on April 16 about Kathy Wallis we said she worked 18-hour days as a special needs co-ordinator. We would like to make clear Ms Wallis’ hours also resulted from her job as county negotiating secretary for teaching union the NASUWT.
