I RECENTLY attended a concert in Manchester where the audience did not realise that there was more than one movement in Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto and one listener did not know what a cymbal was called. Rather than cut back on music education is it not about time that many people started, even adults?
We must be grateful, however, that they attended the concert to prove that there is more to life than just reading the share prices, writing out the bills and adding up the pounds and the pennies.
