* Professor Chris Woodhead’s students are to enjoy a course based on classroom essentials (TES, February 25). Training teachers in universities is seen as inappropriate and inefficient, with the exception of termly, three-day residential intensive coaching in the subjects they will have to teach. If the medical profession had adopted such an approach, would current practitioners still be treating us with leeches?
