YOUR article about the dismissal of Trevor Jones from West Oxfordshire College’s employment contained a number of factual inaccuracies.

The statement that “at the Employment Tribunal in October, the chairman stated that Trevor Jones had been discriminated against - contrary to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995” is completely incorrect. The chairman did not make this comment. No finding of discrimination was made against the college at any stage in the proceedings.

I would also draw your attention to the fact that by giving an interview to your newspaper, Mr Jones was in breach of the term of his settlement agreement. You state in your article that Mr Jones was prohibited from commenting on his monetary award. In fact both parties agreed that details of the circumstances surrounding Mr Jones’ employment, as well as details of the settlement agreement, should be kept confidential.

The editor writes: Our report should have said “the chairman of the tribunal stated that Mr Jones claimed he had been discriminated against.... ” We apologise for this serious omission.
