Controversial plans to close schools in Cardiff have been put on hold. Several will now have to wait until the autumn to find out their fate after a public backlash.

The bid to close Lansdowne Primary and Llanedeyrn High, and build a new Welsh-medium high school on the site of St Teilo’s Comprehensive, has been stalled. Plans to replace Llanrumney and Rumney high schools have also been deferred.

But Cefn Onn Primary and St Anne’s Church in Wales Infants will close. Caerau Infant and Nursery will also close to make way for a Welsh-medium school. Trowbridge Junior and Infant schools will be merged and a new Welsh-medium primary will be built on the old infant school site.
